DESCRIPTION:Elvedin Klačar\n“The Self-Act – go through or let go”\nMirrors\, ropes\, tubed tires – Installation 2015The work deals with political space\, means of transport and mass movement in Europe. \nThe emphasis lies on the object that gets deprived from its actual cause in ‘real life’ and is turned into a means of transport and thereby challenges visitors to confront themselves with the sociopolitical situation. \nThe tubed tires stand for a group that’s on the brim of our political space and is being excluded from the possibility to fulfill their social needs\, an inconceivable feeling for “native” Europeans within our system.\nThe history of Europe has always shown traces of dislocation and mass movement. The means of transport were always dangerous – ranging from refugee smugglers with ice trucks to high-voltage lines in times of the Iron Curtain.\nTime and time again\, it’s arbitrariness that decides over life and death\, going through or letting go. \nElvedin Klačar was born in Rudo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in 1976. He studied performance and sculpting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 2003 to 2009. In 2007\, he attended the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Marseille. \nThe performative sculptural work with space is one of the main parts of his artistic productivity. His topics are spacial structures\, social behavior\, possession\, power and political systems. He organizes and executes projects and exhibitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina\, Germany\, Poland\, Hungary\, France and Austria.\nHe lives and works in Vienna and Sarajevo \nBildrechte liegen beim Künstler
